Who we are
The Sawdust Society ("we", "us") is the data controller responsible for your personal data when you use our membership service.
What we collect
- Account data — email, password (hashed), display name
- Usage data — pages visited, downloads, module progress
- Device data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers
- Support messages — anything you send us via email
Payment data (card details, billing address) is collected and processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
Why we use it
- To create your account and provide the service (contract performance)
- To prevent fraud and abuse (legitimate interest)
- To improve the product (legitimate interest)
- To respond to support requests (contract performance)
- To send service announcements (legitimate interest); marketing only with consent
Who we share it with
- Stripe — for payment processing and subscription billing
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — to run the service
- Authorities — where required by law
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is open and for a reasonable period after closure to handle support and meet legal obligations. We delete or anonymise data when no longer needed.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can object to certain processing. Email hello@sawdustsociety.example to make a request. EU/UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, hashed passwords) to protect your data.
Cookies
We use essential cookies needed to keep you signed in. We do not use marketing cookies.
